58003D Idle Temps at 65 degree Celsius -is this normal ?
I recently upgraded my system to a Ryzen 5800X3D and was initially concerned about its idle temperature. My CPU consistently idles around 65°C, which was higher than my previous processor. However, I’ve found that this temperature doesn’t impact performance or stability. In fact, I’ve been able to overclock it slightly without encountering any issues.
An idle temperature of 65°C for the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D does seem a bit high. Generally, most of the CPUs, including the 5800X3D, should be within the range of 35-50°C idle temperature depending on the cooler and the room temperature. Here are a few things to consider: Here are a few things to consider:
Cooling Solution: It is also very important that you ensure you have selected the right cooler, the best cooler. The 5800X3D is a chip with 3D V-Cache technology, which makes it heat up quite a lot; therefore, it is better to use a powerful air or water cooling system.
Proper Airflow: Make sure that your case has good air flow. Another 2-3 case fans might cool it down by 5-10 degrees Celsius.
Thermal Paste: Ensure that the thermal paste has been applied correctly. Applying new quality thermal paste may sometimes reduce temps by 2 to 5 degree Celsius.
BIOS Settings: Occasionally, the BIOS configuration may be set to a default that does not suit the current computer configuration. You could try to enable Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) to enable the CPU to control the power and heat effectively.
